The Monthly Roundup - September
This year is speeding by! We’re already past the Autumn Equinox and you can really feel the nights starting to draw in. It’s time to cosy up and immerse yourself in great stuff to read, watch and see. Here’s what’s made my Love List this month.
1 Watching…
Love & Death on ITV. How much do I love a true story? Set in the late 1970s, Candy Montgomery is a housewife from Texas who became the prime suspect in a murder investigation. I shall reveal no more 🤐. Aside from a gripping story there’s also a cracking playlist.
2 Reading…
Every Family Has A Story by Julia Samuel (with thanks to Tribe member Sophie for the recommendation) Written by the best selling psychotherapist, this book investigates the impact that our families have on our lives. Using eight case studies as a framework, Julia Samuel analyses a range of common issues including separation, step-relationships, trauma and loss. Fascinating and insightful.
3 Seeing…
Choir of Man at The Arts Theatre. 90 minutes of uplifting, joyous, thoughtful, moving, poignant and somewhat immersive theatre, with great songs and a huge heart. Just go.
4 Using…
Speaking of theatre, do you know about Tanya’s Tickets? (thanks to Tribe member Lyndsey for the tip off). Tanya sells theatre tickets at cheap rates for selected shows. So far I’ve used her to see Guys and Dolls, Moulin Rouge, Choir of Man, Dr Semmelweis and I’m off to see Lyonesse with Kristen Scott Thomas next week. So far the seats have been great and super reasonable. You can’t choose your exact seat, but you do know the area you’ll be in e.g. ‘Stalls Rows F-Q’. For me this is a plus as it takes away the responsibility of choosing the ‘best’ seats! Email tanya@tanyastickets.co.uk and ask to go on the mailing list. Disclaimer: be prepared for quite a few emails.
Do share, what are you loving this month?
